Let’s Talk About Washington Wine Month

It happens twice a year. This time, there are some twists. So let’s talk about Washington Wine Month,
new ways to celebrate with the Auction of Washington Wines, and how to win a weekend getaway to Washington.

Before we dive in, feel free to review my hashtag guide to Washington Wine Month which offers some explanation as to why we have two months dedicated to vinous celebrations.

Celebrate the Auction of Washington Wines

This year’s auction is a unique mix of virtual and micro events. Do you miss the event that put the Auction on the list of the Top 5 Wine Charity Auctions in the U.S.? Check out the mini galas on Saturday, August 14. Each includes a reception, a wine-paired dinner, participation in the virtual gala and a few surprises! Just a few tickets are left, available for purchase online.

Meanwhile, on August 10th, place your bids at the Online Auction starting at 10am.

This year I am a Washington Wine Ambassador for the Auction. To try and live up to the title, I put together a package that highlights some of the fantastic tasting experiences offered by Seattle Urban Wineries. Check out the Sip Around Seattle auction lot (number 171) and place your bid! I’ve donated wines purchased during my own tasting adventures to offer the winner a taste of what’s to come.

Many thanks to Aluel Cellars, Elsom Cellars, Locus Wines, Nine Hats Wines with Nine Pies Pizzeria, and T2 Cellar for their hospitality and generosity! Even if you don’t win this auction lot, I highly recommend a visit to each of them.

Win a Weekend Getaway to Washington

Part of what’s different about this Washington Wine Month is that the Washington State Wine Commission kicked it off by launching a brand-new website for the state’s wine industry, along with the inventive “Map My WA Wine” mobile app.

Their announcement reveals, “The new washingtonwine.org site features a full winery and vineyard directory, interactive touring information, a deep dive on the state’s regions and terroir, a comprehensive historical timeline, and endless stories spotlighting the people that make Washington wine so special.”

As for the Map My WA Wine interactive mobile app, fans of Washington wine can readily search hundreds of Washington wineries, tasting rooms, and vineyards and subsequently create and share itineraries.

“Map My WA Wine will enhance the way consumers discover, explore, and experience Washington Wine,” according to Steve Warner, President of the Washington State Wine Commission. “It’s now easier than ever to plan your first time or return trip to Washington wine country.” Steve Warner,

Through the end of the year, anyone who downloads the Map My WA Wine app and creates an itinerary and account are entered to win a weekend getaway for two in Washington.

Until you win that weekend getaway, let’s talk about Washington wine month on social media. Find a bottle of our state’s great juice, and share it online!
